Family Matters

Rohinton Mistry wrote a book called Family Matters. What I enjoyed most about the book was the title (the story was great, but the title had meaning). In the story, it started out talking about family matters on the day to day activities of the family with things like, waking up and the routines of daily life as a family. As the story goes on, the title shifts to…NO, a family matters! The importance of family.

I have seen first hand the second version of Family Matters. We got home from the hospital on Saturday, Feb 25th and waiting for us was the family to welcome us home like a triumphant victory. Right after the walk into the home, then all the family members started up like a well oiled machine and went into action of looking after Sahil, making sure Ishaan was fine, that my wife was not uncomfortable and that I was fine. We had the solid core of family arrive and it was not a burden at all. We laughed, talked and already started talking about the future of the two little boys in the household.

With the hundreds of emails, facebook messages and tweets from family and friends …I know that both my boys are going to grow up in a very solid environment. With many of you, we may not be family by blood but by your caring nature and concern for my family, you are ALL part of my family. If that is the case, could you imagine what my family tree would look like! The many branches alone would mean a large trunk to support it…that trunk is the solid foundation I need. I mean this sincerely, when Rohinton Mistry wrote Family Matters…you are my family and you do matter!
