Burnaby Board of Trade – Welcome the Dragon Dinner to celebrate Chinese New Years…
I would say I cram a lot into my days and for the most part, I always have so much to enjoy and be thankful for. I really do think that I have a found a great position. It is the difference between finding a job, career and a calling! There is a difference between the three. A job is what you do 9-5 and it is probably routine. A career is where you have gained a lot of experience and you are very good at what you do. A calling is where you can’t decide if it is work or pleasure because you are so engaged in what you do and many times it does not even feel like work…. you have to find YOUR calling!
Today was a prime example of finding your calling. It is a simple view but meaningful. Beedie School of Business bought a table at the Burnaby Board of Trade Chinese Lunar New Years event. A traditional 9 course meal. I got to attend and have some students and alumni there. We had a wonderful time catching up and it reminded me of the people I have to be thankful for. It was a lovely evening and catching up with Andrew M, Awin Y, Larisa T, Amit B, Charles C, Queenie C, Fred B, Karim A and Andrew B (sat at a different table but made sure to be part of ours). We laughed, caught up and took time to enjoy each other’s company. Find places, moments and opportunities to catch up with each other and appreciate the time spent…I know we did. This was a great way to welcome the Year of the Dragon!
