1 down – 49 more memorable experiences to go!

This site is about finding the 50 most memorable experiences for 2012 and the birth of my son today has to be one…so there are 49 still up for grabs ? I had to get this one in while it was totally fresh!

So today the world welcomed Sahil Singh Thiara. He came to us early. I guess he was just too excited to meet you all and experience this world. We have a new person that will set and guide a new path. What will be his journey? The mysteries of life lie ahead. With all the support and positive role models out there he will have a solid foundation. Sahil means calm and reflective and a fitting name for someone who has already demonstrated a peaceful side.

Thinking further, he is going to grow up with the words like caring, understanding and tolerance. He will be subjected to hatred, intolerance and indifference…these are unavoidable. These last few things he will not learn from me but from society and some of those around him. My call is to the many amazing people around me…embrace him and share your wisdom with him so he will grow with a strong foundation and look at the world through a positive set of eyes.

The activities of today have been a whirlwind and about 8 hours after the birth of Sahil, I am finally having this all sink in. I have been overwhelmed by social media today of all the congratulations and warm wishes. This child and my other son, Ishaan, will grow up in a rich environment. As we welcome our latest son to the world, I see opportunity, possibility and richness balanced with challenges, trials and turbulence…all of which needs to be experienced.

Today saw the realization of a memorable experience for 2012…I have 49 to go. This will be an amazing year.

  1. That is just the sweetest moment captured in words in perfect harmony. You use language like an art form, Sam. Congratulations to you, your wife, and Ishaan. And I look forward to hearing about the stories and adventures that will come along with the newest addition to your family.

    Sam and Sadhna,

Two wonderful sons. Congratulations. I know the feeling. You will come to appreciate the differences in the very first hours and days. Being so close in age, they have the prospects of being the closest of lifelong friends. I know the closeness in your family will continue. It’s a great day. You and your growing family are in our thoughts and prayers. Will call in the coming days, maybe once you’ve had a chance to settle back into a familiar routine. As for sleep, there will be time for that later.

Thank you my friend! Appreciate the post and sentiments. I do look forward to a catch up call in the very near future. Some new adventures to embrace and pursue.

      All the best!

I wouldn’t worry about his upbringing too much, Sahil and Ishaan will/do have tons of people around them that love them dearly! Which reminds me….. so does the “godfather-ship” I have over Ishaan extend to Sahil as well??? ^__^

But I’m SO happy for you and Sadhna!! I had to stop working and get a hold of you as soon as I found out!

    • Sam

Thanks G. I know you will be a positive role model for the little guys.

Hey, the godfather rule carries over for sure. Amazing how many have stepped up for both to be godfathe/role models…but there will always be a special bond between us all.

    • G stands for Godfather ;)

Yay! That makes 2 godsons now! I definitely feel that special bond 🙂

Two awesome lil boys that are going to grow up and do wonderous things; what those things will be, only time will tell. Like my older brother taught me “be the best ‘you’ you can be”. I wonder what these 2 will get up to…… besides mischief haha!
