Starting out with $2.00

Today I was searching through my desk drawers and came across my very first bank book. Yup, that photo is of the first page. ? The first entry is July 13, 1968 (I was just 6 years old) and a deposit total of $2.00 (woohoo, I am rich!) and after a couple of more deposits of $6.00 I wound up getting an interest of 15 cents with $14.00 in my bank account. When Ishaan was born and my mom found a neat looking twoonie and we made that his first entry in the bank. We know where his first $2.00 came from.

This is a short entry to remind us that we all start from somewhere and often times it is not with much. It is only the continued deposits and interest that we have a solid base and we can look back with amazement. Now in this case it was money but put it in terms of your personal development and the continued deposits you make by the people you meet and learn from, the situations you can appreciate and grow from, it all accumulates like a bank account and investments. We need to make sure there are more deposits than withdrawals in our lives. You invest in people and grow our relationships. Before you know it, you are rich financially but more importantly you are wealthy beyond belief internally. I have always said that while I am not a billionaire, for what I have been able to experience, I feel like a billionaire every day…and that is tax free ? and not taxing ? on me. Now this is something you can bank on!

  1. That’s an amazing thought. It goes back to the idea that life is a journey and every experience (positive or negative) makes you who you are today. I’m glad we’ve met some time during our life journey =)

Patricia, thank you for your comment. I would say that you are one solid blue chip investment. I am glad that we have had the opportunity to meet…I know I am richer for the experience.
