While I have been on parental leave, Ishaan and I have been going out on our daily adventures. Being Friday (I really have not been able to keep track of what day of the week we are on whether I am working a really busy or time off and taking it easy – always extremes with me), we decided that today’s adventure was going up Mt Seymour to go down some slopes on a sled. I was thinking back and it must be years since I was last up Seymour Mountain. Now picture driving up the mountain with my three year old in his seat – feet relaxed on the seat in front of him, sunglasses on, snow suit pants with the braces and listening to ‘Wild Thing’ and AC/DC ‘Thunder’…he was pumped.
We got to the peak and parked. What a beautiful day. Sunny weather, great snow and an amazing view…we wound up grabbing our sled and tackling the slopes. I was a little unsure if Ishaan would be a bit nervous with going down the hill for the first time. We tried being pulled in the sled and he was enjoying himself. Then throwing snowballs at Dad was the next part. It concluded with going down the hill in a sled. Not only did he go down and into the side of the slope, he also went down more than once on his stomach and facing backwards…now I know John Montgomery is a gold medalist in Skelton going head first down the slopes…my little guy would rather do it facing the other way ? A future Olympian? I guess this the best way to do it so you can’t see what is coming up!
I would say that days and moments like today are worth cherishing. It is difficult to have all the elements and conditions lined up and we had that today. If you get a chance, grab a plastic magic carpet and go down the hill…frontwards or backwards, does not matter, just go out and enjoy the day.
