It is no surprise that today it is raining…and pretty hard. We often refer to our part of the world as the wet coast and not the west coast. Well, today I was in Wet Vancouver and Ambleside Park…yes Wet Vancouver today and not West Vancouver as it is known as. We constantly complain about the rain and dream of far away places where the sun provides endless enjoyment and pleasure. Well, one thing I have resolved is that I live in a wet place and no matter how great I might be as a person, there is one thing I have no control over…the weather. As a result, I will have to play with what is provided.
Thought Ishaan (my eldest son at 3 years old) and I, would go out and walk the seawall. It was raining very hard and we had on our rain jackets and boots. We were out for an adventure. We found some huge puddles and the jumping started. Hey, we were both already wet so what difference would getting more wet cause as an inconvenience? We laughed and jumped and I am sure people wondered what we were up to. I think sometimes if we brace and prepare for the elements and the rain, it is really not that bad. I think we should embrace the wet weather and appreciate it for what it is…making us green and plentiful. There are so many places around the world that suffer as a result of no rain.
So why don’t you find a pair of gum boots today and take a jump into a puddle and recall a time and days gone by where you did not worry about getting wet…and appreciate the wet coast for all it is…wet and fun!
PS – so after a wet fun filled day with Ishaan, I am settling in with my book, a cup of tea, a blanket, my son Ishaan napping next to me and a pillow…rainy days at its best!
Aww makes me miss Vancouver 😉
We had a great day puddle jumping. Bring your boots next time and I will jump in puddles with you 😉 See you soon?
