I have to admit, I have not really been able to meet any celebrities as defined by the masses. My only claim to fame was speaking with Kate Moss in Muscat, Oman at a souk (traditional market) and we had a lovely chat. I think what she appreciated was that I had no idea who she was ? My friends did and they were gawking from the side.
Now that was the past, but over the last couple of years, I have had the pleasure of getting to know a genuine celebrity, Riaz Meghiji from Breakfast Television. What I greatly appreciate is that Riaz is very down to earth. Tonight we went out for dinner (the universe allowed our schedules to work) and had amazing conversations on any number of topics. It is yet another example of spending almost two hours over dinner and talking about deep life aspects and at the turn of a moment, breaking out into uncontrollable laughter…Riaz knows why ? We all need to find relationships as strong as the one Riaz and I have. Neither of us asks for anything out of knowing each other but just enjoy the company of each other. Thanks to the Global Agents for Change for the brief introduction a couple of years ago…a wonderful friendship has emerged over the last couple of years. Sam’s 50/50-2012 is about discovering the extraordinary in the ordinary…and having dinner with Riaz was extraordinary!
On Breakfast Television, what I greatly enjoy about Riaz, Kyle, Michel (the other hosts I have met – well also Dawn very briefly), and the entire crew is their energy. I like leaving their show on while I go about my morning. They do allow me the opportunity of going to work with a smile. It goes back to making a difference. I am sure that there are a great many people who go to work feeling a bit better inside because of the team at BT and you all never really see that part.
A great many more stories to write my friend and equally to tell!
